First summary of the ServDes workshop

Hi all - great to see lots of new faces here! I just did a resort of all the post-its we created in the ServDes workshop to see which topics we discussed and how popular they were. This should be able to help us in starting the first discussions on specific topics. It ended up something like this:We will come back to you with more details on the topics and connections, but the clusters…See More

"Google Scholar is a decent and open start. Then there are several databases which index a set of journals, but you need paid access for them - check with your uni. If you find an interesting paper you'll probably find more interesting form same…"

Fabian Segelström commented on Minka Rössner's blog post ServDes12 - Question 2: Publishing
"ServDes obviously. Then there are the general design conferences like IASDR and DRS. Then depending on your specific interests you're bound to find smaller conferences focusing on that from different angles. A good source to look at when you…"

Fabian Segelström commented on Minka Rössner's blog post ServDes12 - Question 8: Generals
"Wow, that's a big question to answer. And there isn't really a single answer neither. I'd say it depends very much on where in the world you do you PhD and also on the department you're in. In some countries being a PhD means…"

Fabian Segelström commented on Menno Manschot's blog post How to align with exising networks?
"Hi Menno, I am aware of SDR but I see two key differences; 1. SDR is not PhD specific nor deals with the issues of doing research - it presents results. self- 2. SDR is by invitation. They invite researchers everynow and then to do the interview.…"

How to align with exising networks?

Do you know this: http://www.servicedesignresearch.com/whats-sdr/?Some of you will, as I see your profiles up there.. Reading through their explanation I can't help but think that the aim of both platforms/networks is very similar! Maybe this one is more specifically aimed at PhD-questions and challenges, but there seems to be a lot of overlap content-wise.Next to  this there are several other quite active online hubs focussed…See More
